The hat's almost identical, isn't it? And the badge, which is a bit odd. Not sure about the jacket, though :?

Seems there is definitely a similarity in uniform. First they both seem to have some sort of three row arrangement for the buttons. However in the equestrian portrait, on closer inspection shows white lace, like the hussar esque fellow mounted behind him, & I wonder if what I first took to be blue is actually green.
